Day 1: Hanoi - Arrival
- Met and welcomed by your guide upon arrival

- Enjoy a traditional cyclo ride of exploration through the busy streets of the ‘Old Quarter’

Day 2: Hanoi - Hoa Lu - Tam Coc - Train - Lao Cai
- Head north to Hoa Lu, the site of the country’s first capital (years968-1009)
- Visit the temples of Dinh Tien Hoang (restored in the 17th century) and Le Dai Hanh
- Head for Tam Coc town, known as ‘Halong Bay in the rice fields
- Have lunch in Tam Coc town
- Board small sampan and traverse the Ngo Dong River through the rice fields
- Enter three sacred caves, the Tam Coc Caves
- Return to Hanoi in the afternoon
- Transfer to the Hanoi Railway Station for an overnight train to Lao Cai

Day 3: Lao Cai - Sapa - Lao Chai - Ta Van
- Arrive at Lao Cai Train Station very early in the morning
- Refresh in a provided bathroom and have breakfast
- Head to Sapa for a day of hiking to meet ethnic minorities in their homelands, in the heart of rice fields
- Visit the village of Y Linh Ho in Muong Hoa valley
- Trek for about 6 km through landscapes of terraced rice fields to Lao Chai village, home of the Black H'mong minority group.
- Meet people proudly dressed in their distinct identifying costumes
- Walk a distance of 2 km to the Ta Van Giay village inhabited by other ethnic groups
- Transfer back to Sapa
- Overnight at a hotel in Sapa, breakfast included.
Day 4: Sapa - Ma Tra - Ta Phin - Train - Hanoi
- Commence the day with a hike to the Ma Tra village of Black H’mong, along narrow trails, through pine forests, and wonderful gardens
- Trek to Ta Phin village, home to the Red Dzao ethnic minority group
- Trek for 1 km to a large cave called Ti O Cam, under a mountain
- Journey back to Lao Cai passing many tea plantations and small villages
- In the evening take a night train to Hanoi

Day 5: Hanoi - Halong bay - Cruise and night on board
- Travel from Hanoi to Halong Bay with tour guide
- Halong Bay, with its 1969 islands, is set in beautiful turquoise waters and was recognized for its natural beauty by UNESCO in 1994, and classified as a World Heritage Site.
